STOP PRESS

Matthias Media has just published the latest thoughts of Rev. Gordon Cheng on “building up Christians and changing people’s lives.” The reverend’s contribution to this area of Christian interaction lays out a comprehensive plan on how “to speak words with an attitude of grace and the value of genuinely listening to others.” As Joseph Smith of Southern Cross sycophantly explained in his review of the book, the revered reverend “changes our preconceptions of encouragement from dispensing mere pleasantries to the importance of words, particularly God’s words, in building up the body of Christ and others.” And what’s more he’s deemed an encourager with his bits of encouragement “delivered with passion, humility and a little bit of cheek.”

“What’s that you said?...Yes…this is THAT Rev Gordon Cheng…Well, I am positive it is - couldn’t be two guys in the Sydney Diocese with that name. So, what’s that stupefied look on your face for? He does what? Where?”

Hey, Gordon. Did you really call Christian brothers imbeciles and morons for taking God’s Word at face value? I understand brother…got those portions in the wrong balance…too little humility and far too much cheek! Can I suggest…nahhh..wouldn’t bother! I know you Sydney Anglicans too well now. You wouldn’t take on a tad of advice even if it came with a million dollar cheque. Too proud for that, aren’t you!

I said I wouldn't comment on this blog but as a question has been addressed to me directly, I'll answer it (again).

The answer is no, and for an expanded version of the answer see the comments I made on the first post in your blog.

Are you fabricating other quotes as well?

Are you deleting some of Michael Jensen's posts?

Does the rule that "This blog does not allow anonymous comments" not apply to the blog authors?

Let the blog reader beware, indeed.

Gordon,

You guys are so paranoid. No one has been deleting anyone else's comments.

As for morons etc, yes we read your puerile explanation; and then we demolished it. Why don't you stand like a man, just this once, instead of hiding behind all that fluffy, effeminate Anglospeak/shuffle and admit your total dislike for creationists.

Here's a thought, John.

I do indeed think that YECS is an unscientific belief system. However, people believe all sorts of odd things without necessarily being fools themselves.

When I was 12 or so, I convinced my at-the-time 8 year old sister that telegraph poles were alive and that when she saw metal boxes attached to them, they were full of nutrients that kept them going. This was (and is) a silly belief that she held for a few years before realizing that she had a silly older brother. She, however, is not a silly person and never was.

You see, then, that it is possible to comment on a belief without necessarily inferring that the holder of the belief is a fool.

So, I stand by the view that YECS is a wrong-headed world view, and I repeat that the people I have met who believe it are without exception neither cretins nor morons.

I have not, AFAIK, met you, so I really don't want to make any comment about your intelligence. On the basis of the unsubstantiated or demonstrably false claims you've made in this blog, it may be that you are deceitful; but even there I would want to allow the possibility that there's been some misunderstanding.

OK, I've spent enough time on this foolish site and this time I really am going, regardless of any further personal attacks or comments you want to address to me. Farewell!

PS. Still no answer from you about why others are not allowed to comment anonymously, but the blog authors are. I am starting to think that you are all Peter Jensen on a wind-up. If so, I laughed and I left, and see you at St Andrew's House PFJ. :-)

Gordie doesn't like you guys doesn't he-unscientific,odd,wrong-headed,intelligence doubted, makers of unsubstantiated or demonstrably false claims, may be deceitful, a foolish site, then the final insult suggesting that you and by extension I am the ex-camel driving archbishop. he knows how to hurt doesn't he!

But, and it's a big but I asked two of these guys-Lee & Michael- some important questions but theyn did the Angloduknweave and skeedaddled.

And no one will answer my question about the silly word verification stuff.

And what did Gordie mean about anonymous comments- I'm not anonymous.

I was just having a look at the latest 'intellectual discourse' on the Anglo Forum and came across this silly comment.

Such a seeker after truth this Owen Atkins. By the way Owen there is no such organization as Creationontheweb.

Owen writes:
"Yikes
Our church is having some dude from the Creationontheweb mob speak in a couple of weeks time.
That'll be a job for me... shutting my trap while someone spouts that lot at church.
It's times like this I pine for a truly liturgical environment...."

Owen don't bite your tongue ask some questions and maybe you will learn something, maybe.

Below is what Owen Atkins writes on the Anglo Forum in responce to my commenmts above. He is slow to get my point- Creationontheweb isn't a 'mob' or an organization Owen but the website of Creation Ministries International. Maybe too subtle a difference for our Owen. I did not say Creationontheweb does not exist only that it is not an organization.

I found it interesting that the 'know-it-all Owen doesn't even know the name of the organization which is sending a speaker to the church he attends. I think I was right Owen you could learn something, maybe even learning the name of the organization!

I would be surprized if Owen even knows what CMI teaches. Hey but why let facts get in the way of a poor story?

There you go Owen your second mention, negative again.

Is it any wonder that some on the Anglo Forum have difficulty comprehending the meaning ogf Genesis when representative Owen fails to understand a simple blog from a 'trog.'

"Oh
and Warwick (my trog blog benefactor) has advised me that creationontheweb doesn't exist. They will be shocked to find that out. I almost believed the Big W but I am still a tiny bit cynical and so googled them and lo and behold, they wuz there.
First entry and all."

On the Anglo Forum Gordon Cheng says "AiG never returns our e-mails when we ask them." I don't know where he sent his emails, (maybe to AIG US) but my experience with AiG Australia- now Creation Ministries International is that they do answer any email of substance. Maybe Gordon should go to www.creationontheweb.com and send his questions there.

I have asked numerous questions of people from the Anglospeak forum (on this site) and received few answers. In fact they jest up and skedaddled.

I have a challenge to Gordon- Maybe someone could pass it on to him, and it's this- Gordon send your question to CMI and then let us see both the question and answer. Fair enought Gordon?

Just between you and me Gordon I think you are telling porkies. But let me give you the benefit of the doubt. I look forward to seeing your question and reply.

Gordon (as per your ASF blog) do you know of a place in Scripture where the word day with a numeral before it does not mean day?

Actually, I haven't been posting comments because to be honest, I can't be bothered. The issue over YECS isn't a issue of salvation for me so a blog showing no restraint in its attempt to take non-YECSers to task is a waste of my time.

Lee,

That's right mate...believe whatever you like about God and you don't give a toss because it's all about you.

In the very least, Lee, have you ever heard of truth for truth's sake?

Your sentiments aptly mirror those of the New Age..me, me, me, but never what's objectively true.

BTW, ever get into a discussion about women's ordination?

Is Gordon Cheng actually capable of reasoned argument? All he does is mock Bible-believers and knock down straw men (e.g. his stupid obsession with windows of heaven implies that creationists are literalists who ignore figurative language; no Gordie, "windows of heaven were opened" means "it rained cats and dogs").

If I were a gambler, I would bet that Gordie hasn't even read YEC works before spouting off.

WArwick: "I would be surprized if Owen even knows what CMI teaches. Hey but why let facts get in the way of a poor story?"

Of course he doesn't. His "information" on CMI comes from the Australian Humanist of the Yeah Plimer. He actually thinks Plimer's science and biblical attacks are good, despite all the crass blunders (here is a selection http://www.creationontheweb.com/content/view/3869/).
