Anglican Hilarity

These two news items by themselves may not be so funny, or maybe they are:

Peter has made Sydney Diocese Headquarters a post box. Now you're talking Peter. But not alas a post box that has anything to do with anything important, but one that will merely advance the tussling within Anglicanism of peripheral matters of order. But here's the funny part; its all about following biblical teaching: the GAFCON (or just gaffe for short) exists to allegedly support the Bible's teaching (on homosexuals and women), but with the help of the diocese that undermines the Bible's teaching at its most important point (because even Jesus referred to Genesis 1&2 as nomative). Ho Hum.

But the funny part comes here where the UK anglicans want to apologise for getting stuck into Darwin the century before last (talk about up with the times). In "Good Religion needs Good Science" we have an apologetic article that uncritically accepts Darwin's own claims to science when his (few) good ideas (borrowed without acknowledgement from others, including creationists) have merely fueled naturalism's religious bent, which helps thousands to perdition every year (I dare say). The article should probably have been called "Good Religion needs Bad Religion"; for which, of course, they could just go to Sydney Diocese! Talk about a gaffe!!

For a kind and thought-provoking discussion of the UK article, see here

Haha, the CMI article links to that hilarious Yes Prime Minister satire of CoE liberalism and churchian poltics—well worth watching in full for half an hour of good laughs.

The sad thing is that when the Emperor has no clothes he just doesn't see it. Others see it and make him the butt of their humour.

How dreadful that a founding member of GAFCON ought be disqualified from continued participation because of a breach of the displine which was impetus for GAFCON viz. adherence to Scripture.

Now I see Standing Committee of the Sydney Diocese has endorsed the Jerusalem Declaration as "exemplifying the tenets of orthodoxy which underpin our Anglcian identity".

What hypocrits these apologists for Darwinism are!

Correction: "hypocrites" not "hypocrits".

Yes Sam, hypocrites for sure.

Since they deny our Lord of His glory in His creative acts they deserve criticism.

The Sydney Anglicans are aware of the CMI article, but have nothing meaningful to say in opposition.

Yes, so I see. Same old same old!

I attended a funeral service today. A wonderful event. My tears were not so much for the loss of a loved one but for the joy of testimony about a wonderful Christian woman, the word of the Lord spoken with deep feeling both in English and in Russian, beautifully loud and confident singing of "Blessed Assurance" and "Thine Be The Glory", and a sound and convicting exposition of Psalm 23.

The woman had grown up in Russia and had been an Atheist well entrenched in Darwinism. The testimony of Christians in a post WW11 refugee camp was used of the Lord for her conversion to the Lord Jesus and the throwing off of Darwinism. She and her husband migrated to Australia where they raised a family and were staunch evangelical Christians and tireless supporters of the Church until their respective passings to eternity.

They could see the falsity of Darwinism and were not prepared to give it any part of their belief in the Lord.

There is a stark difference between Christian and non-Christian funerals. Just another of the great blessings of knowing and loving Jesus Christ as out Creator, Lord and Saviour.

It sounds, Sam, that the person whose funeral you attended is securely in the Lord. She could shake off atheism and Darwin, it's a pity the lightweights of the Sydney Anglican community can't the Lord Jesus as he has fully revealed himself. They are such a hindrance to a thoroughgoing belief.
